Bachelor’s or master’s degree abroad has been one of the programs in high demand. In recent years, we see that this demand has increased even more. On the other hand, the interest and participation of students from Turkey are directed toward countries such as America, England, Australia, and Canada and European countries such as Italy, Spain, Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The undergraduate and graduate education duration may vary according to countries and departments.
Undergraduate programs take 3 to 4 years in many countries and programs. In Europe, this period is usually 3 years, but it is seen that there are 4-year undergraduate programs in countries such as America or Canada. In addition, architecture, dentistry, and pharmacy departments can take up to 5 years, and medical education can last up to 6 years.
Master’s education abroad, on the other hand, is completed in 1 or 2 years, depending on the country and program as well.
In addition to the fact that the duration of education in undergraduate and graduate programs differ, the admission requirements are also different. For example, someone who wants to participate in the undergraduate program in Germany must take the exam in Turkey and must be able to register for the department they want to study in Turkey. On the contrary, some countries do not even require an exam. Students have the opportunity to study in the department they want without the pressure of exams.
To give an example of a master’s degree requirement difference, in the USA, your GPA is expected to be at least 3.0, while in Italy it may be sufficient to have a GPA of 2.5.
The most important requirement is English proficiency when all countries and programs are evaluated. In most cases, your IELTS score of 6.0 and above is one of the basic criteria.
If you think your language proficiency is not good enough, you can attend the preparatory training offered and then move on to the department. However, this opportunity is not available in all countries. At this point, we strongly recommend that you take language training abroad to speed up the process. As Edumaster, we offer language training opportunities in many different countries. You can find our article about language schools here.
Apart from these, another criterion you will consider when choosing is cost. For example, while education is a bit more costly in countries such as Ireland, England, and the Netherlands, it is possible to find more cost-effective programs in countries such as Poland, Italy, Spain, Azerbaijan, and Macedonia.
