According to the consulate’s new attitudes and policies, the WAT participation requirements have been updated. When determining the participation requirements, the question “What kind of student can obtain visa approval?” is asked, and registrations are accepted based on this profile. Many things that were previously accepted have now become reasons for rejection. Of course, these are all inferences without any official explanation. Let’s discuss the updates point by point.
Is there an age limit?
“Students between the ages of 18-26 can participate in the program.” This information is now incorrect for Turkey. The possibility of visa approval for students over the age of 23 is very low. This situation is directly related to the proportionality of your class and age.
How should class compatibility be?
Your class and age should be compatible. For example, if a student born in 2002 plans to participate in the program for the summer of 2024, they will be 21 years old and eligible based on the age requirement. However, if they are just starting their preparatory class, they will have a significant number of years behind. This situation is very risky in terms of visa approval.
What should my GPA be?
There is no officially announced GPA threshold. In previous years, a GPA of 2.00 and above was required, but this year, a much higher GPA is expected based on your class. We have observed that the possibility of visa approval decreases as the GPA falls below 2.30. However, this situation still varies according to your class. For example, a much higher GPA is expected from 4th-graders.
Apart from these conditions, there are also exceptional visa approvals, which depend on the student’s extra conditions or their conversation with the visa officer. As EDUMASTER, we provide a pre-visa preparation session with the student, where we go through the questions one-on-one and our coordinator explains the entire process inside the consulate building, ensuring that you are fully prepared and knowledgeable about the internal process. We aim to help you navigate the visa process smoothly with our visa seminar. If you have any questions, you can reach out to our consultants.
