Many students participating in the program may have specific states or regions they want to go to, while others may be unsure of how to make their selection. Despite various criteria for state and region preferences, it is most logical for the student to evaluate their English proficiency, regional and job preferences, and the details of the available jobs without limiting themselves, and then make a state choice accordingly.
Can I choose a specific state or city?
Each state in America functions like a separate country, with unique factors such as tax rates, accommodation and food expenses, or varying wages. Participants can express a preference for a state, region, or city, and jobs matching these preferences will be offered. However, it’s more beneficial for the student to evaluate job opportunities that align with their expectations and goals without limiting themselves, considering factors such as higher pay, lower accommodation costs, and better job opportunities. Therefore, communicating expectations and goals to the advisor, progressing through the process collaboratively, and selecting the most suitable job is a more accurate and beneficial approach.
How can I evaluate regions?
Your advisor will understand your program expectations, English proficiency, and the type of region you desire, presenting job options that match your preferences. You can then internally assess the jobs you receive and choose the one you prefer. Factors such as the popularity of the state or job location during the summer season, the availability of different job opportunities in the surroundings, and the hourly wage, accommodation expenses, and the overall cost of living in the state can guide your decision-making process.
