The United States of America is a very large country with a total of 50 states. From the west to the east, from the south to the north of the country, the climate, culture and accent change. And even, travel by plane takes a very long time. In fact, the area of only the state of Texas is almost the same as Turkey's. Therefore, it becomes important for Work and Travel students to know the characteristics of the regions they will go to.
How about the region choice? What should a student do when choosing a region? The student's requests and expectations from the program are listened to by the advisors. If students want a fun area with a large crowd of J-1 students, jobs are offered from areas that meet these criteria. If the student wants to go to a specific region, filtering is done, and the student is offered a job from that region or nearby regions. E.g; I want to visit Chicago a lot. I watched Prison Break. Fox River State Penitentiary is in Chicago (its real name is Joilet Prison). Here, Chicago is not covered by Work and Travel as it is a large city, but the student can be offered a job from areas close to Chicago, for example from states such as Wisconsin or Michigan.
However, it is an undeniable fact that in Work and Travel Program, the thing that students pay most attention to is the conditions of the job, rather than the region.
