What is a Special (Green) Passport?
A type of passport issued to certain government employees, public workers, and their families who have completed a specific tenure and rank. The advantage of this passport is that it allows visa-free travel to Schengen countries and many other countries. It is also known as the Green Passport due to its color.
What is a Schengen Visa?
In 1995, the Schengen Agreement was implemented following an agreement among European Union member countries. This agreement abolished border controls between member countries. The countries in the Schengen area have established common practices and rules. With a visa from any member country, you can travel freely within the Schengen area.
Green Passport holders can plan visa-free stays of up to 90 days (12 weeks) in the Schengen Area:
- For English Language Education: In Malta, in the cities of St. Julian’s and Pembroke.
- For German Language Education: In Germany, in the cities of Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, and Freiburg.
- For Spanish Language Education: In Spain, in the cities of Barcelona, and Malaga.
- For French Language Education: In France, in the cities of Lyon and Nice, and in Montreux, Switzerland.
- For Italian Language Education: In Italy, in the cities of Florence, Milan, Rome, Turin, and Viareggio.
Green Passport holders can plan visa-free stays outside the Schengen Area:
- For English Language Education: In Cape Town, South Africa, for up to 30 days (4 weeks).
- For Spanish Language Education: In Havana, Cuba, for up to 90 days (12 weeks).
- For Chinese Language Education: In Beijing, China, for up to 30 days (4 weeks).
