Lifeguard position is one of the most popular positions among Work and Travel jobs. This position, which is preferred by many students because of overtime or more comfortable working conditions, raises a question in the minds of almost every participant. Do we take an exam or need a certificate to become a lifeguard?”. Yes, participants who want to become lifeguards must take an exam and obtain the necessary documents.
However, this is not something you should worry about. Some employers organize a swimming test in Turkey, while some employers do it in the USA. This test usually involves swimming 100-150 meters without time limit, retrieving an object from the bottom of the pool and staying on the water for about a minute without using your hands. Students who succeed in this test are eligible to receive the lifeguard certificate. When they arrive in the USA, they are ready to start working after a few days of first aid training.
Participants with a certain degree of swimming level can easily pass these tests. You are not required to have any professional swimming background or previous certificate. Therefore, our participants can comfortably choose the lifeguard position.
