Work and Travel is a cultural exchange program run by the American government. International students participate in the program to experience American culture during their school holidays, during which they have the opportunity to both work and travel in the USA. However, not every region of America is suitable for this cultural exchange program.

The American government makes sure that the program is held in states with high cultural sophistication and low crime rates, where the program can be conducted in a way that is appropriate for international students. Of course, regardless of the conditions mentioned above, it is not possible to implement the program in some regions. Let’s talk about some reasons.

As in any country, some areas are less safe than others. At the same time, it is closed to the outside in terms of culture, in such cases the government has banned the implementation of the program in certain regions in order to be sure of the safety and social opportunities of the participants.

In some regions, regardless of these features we mentioned, it is not appropriate to make the program because the first language spoken is not English. For example, since the most spoken language in Miami is Spanish, the Work and Travel program cannot be held in this region. However, you can still go on vacation to Miami and enjoy this unique city 😊

To give a different example; While North Dakota is among the states where the Work And Travel program is not available, this is not the case in the neighboring state of South Dakota and Work and Travel can be done.

In short, the regions where the program is carried out; It is selected by evaluating many factors such as the regions where the students will have a good program experience, will improve their language level, are safe, and at the same time are more warm to different cultures, where they can be intertwined with the American culture.
